As a token of appreciation for Veteran's military service, the Pearl River Woodcarvers Guild offers patriotically themed canes for all Mississippi Disabled veterans from any period of service. The canes have a painted carved eagle head seated on a shaft turned by the Magnolia Wood Turners Club. The shafts are subsequently carved and painted with a magnolia and the recipient's name, term of service and other information is burned on one side. Additionally, the club inlays a medallion of the recipient's branch of service on the shaft. For Purple Heart recipients, a special medallion is inlaid on their cane. To nominate a recipient for a cane, send veteran's name, branch of service, dates of service, location of service and any other pertinent information to JOE HUNT at joehunt2001 @ aol.com or call 601-824-4561. The Pearl River Woodcarvers Guild does not accept money from the veterans for these canes, but if you would like to donate to help fund additional canes, you can get information on how to do that at the same e-mail address.
